Dear Readers,
As I have recently been nominated as the 'Know Your Stuff'
ambassador at Topshop for trends, I thought what better way to talk
about what's 'HOT!' than on my blog.
You may or may not be aware, but Topshop has now taken
trends to a whole new level. Since introducing 'The Girls', us employees
can now breakdown what's cool through looking at these selected famous influencer's.
Who are 'The Girls'?
No this is not an advertisement for a new band. These girls are your go-to people for inspiration and Topshop are currently working with five types of girls.
Pretty:
Think pastel overload. Pretty is all about embracing
everything feminine. She opts for dainty, formal dresses and baby blue
cable knit sweaters. Her muted coloured clothes are her go to pieces. She makes her statement with minimalistic jewellery and colour coordination.
The Girls:
- Suki Waterhouse
- Poppy Delevigne
- Florence Welsh
Preppy:
Your work hard, play hard kind of girl. She is
confident enough to work together formal school girl pieces like a black pinafore with a contrasting mustard puffa jacket. She can work the 'back to school' vibe all year round.
The Girls:
- Alexa Chung
- Taylor Swift
- Emma Watson
- Man Repeller (Leandra Medine)
Urban:
A current popular choice for young women who seek
to mix super laid back pieces like sweats and sportswear and make it acceptable during the day. They like to replace one or more uncomfortable items from
their outfit with a statement relaxed piece. Think formal trousers
paired with an Adidas sweatshirt or a lace-up bodysuit, paired with
slouchy joggers and trainers.
The Girls:
- Julia Sarr-Jamois
- Rihanna
- Sofia Richie
- Zoe Kravitz

Rock Chic:
Your girl next door. She is someone who has
worked her way through trends in order to create an eclectic mesh of
edgy pieces, which when combined, give her the rock chic vibe. She will
take her favourite band tee that she purchased at a gig and tuck it into
a leather skirt and pair it with a leather jacket and leopard print
shoulder bag. She is effortlessly cool.
The Girls:
- Bella Hadid
- Ellie Rowsell
- Lou Doillon
- Sky Ferreira
Stylist:
Structured and formal, this girl takes
tailoring to a whole new level. She has enough #GirlBoss power to wear a
two-piece suit from day to night. Even her lounge wear is
constructed and formed so that she is never ill-fitted. Take
inspiration from your typical New York blogger who is heading to her
next brunch meeting.
The Girls:
- Sarah Harris
- Victoria Beckham
- Pernille Teisbaek
- Giovanna Battaglia
You might be reading this having already come to the
conclusion that you are a particular girl. You may even have elements of
all of them.
Once you are aware of what trends you like to rock, then you can aim for a certain section of the store. The key is to develop your wardrobe around your style inspiration and you will find yourself with endless combinations to play around with.
Stay Sweet,
Alice xx
