Learning To Let Go //

Dear Readers,

Learning to let go has to be one of the hardest things a person has to do. It can be a difficult process to deal with and so naturally we will find anything to prevent us from solving the issue at hand

I hope to engage my readers in openly discussing more pressing personal issues and offering up advice where I can, so here are some ways you can learn to let go.

Now the process of moving on from something can be applied to so many different scenarios and circumstances. In the past year I have learnt to let go of routine, expectations, relationships and even friends. I truly understand how hard it is to move on from things in life that no longer serve us with a purpose.

It's important that you take your time when processing what it is you want or need to let go of and how you're going to do it. I found by writing a list of everything I wanted or needed to let go of, I was able to visually see how many negative things were still in my life.

I then split these negative things into categories; either as people, things or environments.

An example of each would be:

People - An ex boyfriend or girlfriend
Things - Consuming excessive alcohol
Environment - Your current workplace

From these categories I broke them down into two groups; things in my control and things that were not in my control. I soon realised how I could control nearly all of these areas of negativity in my life. Ultimately, I had the ability to remove myself from those people, things and situations.

Try to slowly remove these detrimental situations from your life. For example, if you have a friend who seems to use you to social climb, then slowly stop hanging out with them so much. Equally, if you work with someone who makes your life a more difficult than it needs to be, ask your boss if you can remove yourself from their presence.

I do understand that sometimes it is not easy to keep yourself away from those unfavourable situations. Instead I can only recommend that you are mindful of what you are feeling and balance it with something positive.

Here are 5 Ways To Let Go:
  • Reprocess thoughts - Try to avoid dwelling and instead replace those cynical feelings with something much more upbeat. Try to see the good in even the worst of situations.
  • Experience your emotions - It's integral to our human nature that we feel an array of emotions. Explore them and if they involve another person, try to discuss and work out why this is the case.
  • If it can be resolved, resolve it - Don't give up at the first occurrence. Chances are you're probably overthinking and worrying about it. Always remain rational. If there is no chance you can mend the situation then remove yourself from it.
  • Practice visualisation - This is a technique that has served me so well. Find a place in your mind where you can escape to when your thoughts send you into overthinking overdrive. Accompany this with breathing deeply and slowly to really
  • Stop the stalking! Anyone who says they've never stalked someone is a total liar! Social media has made it so easy to low-key keep in check with what other people are doing. I know it's tempting to check on your ex-best friend but now's the time to let go. Unfollow them and move on. It takes up so much of your time and doesn't leave you feeling good after either, so there is no real point to it.
Of course this isn't going to be something that happens overnight, so take your time and be patient.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment down below if you have any other strategies or experiences with letting go.

Dior Lipstick Collection //

Dear Readers,

I have come to the realisation that without lipstick on, I am bare. Lipsticks have become an essential to my everyday makeup look and can bring so much life back into my face (even on the most mentally draining of days), so I tend to invest a lot of money in finding the perfect shade to wear to death.

For a good two years, I was set on the idea that MAC lipsticks were faultless, offering me a range of dream lipsticks that could not disappoint. But recently I have found that their consistencies don't feel the same and tend to bleed soon after I apply them.

Since then, I have been in a limbo, wearing lipsticks that aren't my version of perfect and don't give me the boost of confidence I seriously need. Who knew the colour of your lips could mean so much!

Of course I couldn't let my lip game slip, so I set out on a voyage to try every lipstick I could at any available makeup counter. If there's anything I'd recommend, is that you spend a whole day dedicated to hopping to every counter, until you find the prince charming of makeup products. Again, this process is completely dependent on your tastes, skin colour and skin types so feel free to work with different cosmetic brands.

It was no surprise that I would end up sat at a Dior counter falling hard for the Dior Fluid Stick Lipsticks. Due to my love for the texture and staying power, I knew I could invest in a selection of shades.

Listed below are the shades I bought, along with their names. The link below also sends you straight to the lipsticks, so you can find your dream shade today.

It would be great to hear your feedback if you choose to try out the Fluid Stick.

The Crocodile Boot //

Dear Readers,

I want to show you these adorable suede crocodile boots that I bought from Jones in the sale. They might not be available in every store, but definitely do have a look around. When I saw them I had to have them. As they are such a popular type of boot, I'm sure similar alternatives could be found elsewhere in Topshop or on online stores like ASOS .

The EU: More Than Just 'In' or 'Out'

Dear Readers,

I really felt like I needed to discuss a much more serious issue that has been pressing on my mind lately. This week, those eligible will be voting in one of the most unpredictable votes of our generation; the EU Referendum.

Now I understand this is something completely subjective, so I know that people will have opposing arguments, however this is not what this post is about. I am not here to push my political views to my readers. Instead I am urging one big thing. Do your research.

I didn't realise the severity of the situation until I was working one of my many jobs (which I shall not name) when I overheard a conversation amongst a family about the EU Referendum. A young girl similar to me in age was completely convinced that she wanted to stay in the EU purely on the basis of something she had seen on Facebook. I immediately knew what she was about to say as I had seen the post circulating on my feed, that Mars Magic Stars list on their packaging that 'Product should not be sold outside the EU'. Firstly, after researching into this supposed 'reason' I found it to be false. Secondly, is this really a reason to stay in?

Now I am not putting this forward as a reason to leave, I am just trying to get my head around the fact that an impressionable young person was actually justifying such an important decision on the basis of some factually incorrect Facebook post.

That is why I am writing so frantically and to the point. If you are going to be voting today, please have a valid reason for staying in or out.

Below I have listed some explanatory videos which I hope can aid your understanding. I know it does not begin to scratch the surface, but if it can help someone come to a conclusion with their vote then I have done my job.

I also urge that even if you have made up your mind, you still read into both arguments before you make your final decision, as most often than not articles that only portray one side will most likely be extremely bias. They can ignore vital factors or statistics which could appose other figures. As we know from the high quantity of news coverage we've had to endure from every channel, there seems to be a lot of data flung around which pulls us from one side to the other.

This undertone of bias is also present within each and every newspaper and magazine you choose to pick up and read. An article in The Sun will definitely differ from an article in The Daily Mirror.

So please, educate yourselves on both sides before you make your final decision today. I also urge that you don't believe everything you see in the media (especially if you found it circulating from an unknown source on Facebook).
